The Gentlemen Songsters began in 1932 as the Chevrolet Glee Club of Detroit. It was founded by Dave Redwood a general foreman at the Chevrolet-Detroit Forge Plant who thought that men needed to do something more than work all day.
The Songsters sadly announce the passing of our director Gene Branstrom. He was with us only a few months, but our group was greatly enriched by his talent and enthusiasm. Memorials for Gene can be sent to "Steven Branstrom Long-term Care Fund," c/o Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017.
We have a new rehearsal location!
We will be rehearsing this year at Clawson High School. Park in the main lot which is 2 blocks North of 14 Mile, West off Main St. (Livernois) on Lepla. Enter the High School main entrance and turn right. The music room is two doors past the main office. Click here for map to school.
We are members of the Great Lakes Male Chorus Association, Each year we participate in an "Annual Sing" in which we join voices with approximately 300 singers from around the Michigan/Indiana/Ohio area. This year, we will be joining with other GLMCA choruses in Elkhart, Indiana. Click on the GLMCA District Sing tab on the left or the link on the right for more information.
We also participate in Industry Sings. This is an annual concert in the spring where we join with other industry choruses (Detroit Edison Glee Club, General Motors Employee Chorus, and Ford Motor Employees Chorus). Click on the logo to the right for more information on this year's concert.
We are available to entertain from September to July at banquets, churches, civic associations and retirement homes. Contact Dave Marks at (248) 739-1665, or online at
